Ever wonder where a dog gets all that energy from? Have you watched one relentlessly chase its tail for what seemed like hours on end never wearing out? I need some of that energy!
I’m so bad out of shape that at the end of each day my back hurts, my feet hurts, my arms hurt from lifting dogs that don’t want to get in the bath. My hair itches cuz I just KNOW I have flees, I stay soaking wet for 90% of my day, my eyes have had dog shampoo in them, I’m a little stinky, my clothes are covered head to toe in dog hair…. You know what I have decided about bathing / grooming………????
Theirs NO BETTER JOB IN THE WORLD!
If I had a zillion dollars I would do it just for the kisses alone!
I have found what I was meant to do in life. At the end of the work day I am happy, before the start of the work day I am happy. Driving into work I can’t wait to get there to see what awaits me for that day! Yesterday way my day off and as I was driving by work I thought.. Humm I should drop in and say hi to everyone. Have you ever had a job where on you’re off day you didn’t cringe when driving past work? I haven’t! This is a first for me!
I know its been a few days since I updated the blog but I was worn out. Hehe. As I adjust to the work I can feel my energy level picking up. Yesterday I went shopping for about 2 hours (which is good, I normally don’t do anything on my day off except sleep). After that I came home and did a little house work. Then that afternoon Lucy (my golden) and I took a walk on the boardwalk (I’ll snap pictures next time to post them here) then my husband and I went out to dinner. These things may not sound like a lot to many of you but for me it was a world of change. I was in such a funk in my old job that I never did anything on my days off except sleep or game online. I can tell I have already lost some weight and with that weight loss my energy level has kicked up ten fold. I’m returning to my old self again!
So enough about me, how about the Dogs?
Well my 1st dog I got to truly get my hands “Wet” with was a Briard

“The Briard is a large breed of dog, one of many herding breeds. The Briard has been known for some centuries. Charlemagne, Napoleon, Thomas Jefferson, and Lafayette all owned Briards. This ancient sheep guard and herder has also been used by the French Army as a sentry, messenger, and to search for wounded soldiers because of its fine sense of hearing. They were used in the First World War to the point of extinction. It became popular only after the Paris dog show of 1863 – in large part due to the improvement of the dog’s looks achieved by crosses with the Beauceron and the Barbet. The Briard is named either for Aubry of Montdidier, a man who was supposed to have owned an early Briard, or for the French province of Brie, although the dog probably does not originate in that locale. The Briard still serves as a herder and flock guardian today, as well as an esteemed companion dog. Some of the Briards talents are search & rescue, police work, military work, herding, watchdogging and guarding. Currently the Population of Briards are slowly recovering. Experts state they are related to the Berger Picard”
My favorite have to be my Labs
“The Labrador Retriever (also Labrador, Labby or Lab for short), is one of several kinds of retriever, a type of gun dog. The Labrador is considered the most popular breed of dog (by registered ownership) in the world, and is by a large margin the most popular breed by registration in the United States (since 1991) the United Kingdom, Poland, and several other countries. It is also the most popular breed of assistance dog in the United States, Australia, and many other countries, as well as being widely used by police and other official bodies for their detection and working abilities. They are exceptionally affable, gentle, intelligent, energetic and good natured, making them both excellent companions and working dogs. Although somewhat boisterous if untrained, Labrador Retrievers respond well to praise and positive attention, and are considerably “food and fun” oriented. These dogs are as well loyal and great with little children. They may be used in shows. With training, the Lab is one of the most dependable, obedient and multi-talented breeds in the world.”
We cant forget the Huskies
“The Siberian Husky (Russian: Сибирский хаски, Sibirskiy Haski) is a medium-size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in eastern Siberia. The breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family. It is recognizable by its thickly-furred double coat, sickle tail, erect triangular ears and distinctive markings. An active, energetic and resilient breed whose ancestors came from the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic and were bred by the Chukchi of Northeastern Asia, it was imported into Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush and spread from there into the United States and Canada, initially as a sled dog. It rapidly acquired the status of a family pet and a show-dog.”
That was a fun wet bath! My Husky Pup HATED the water!
A little Chihuahua ran off with my heart!
Chihuahua (help·info) is the smallest breed of dog in the world and is named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico, where it was discovered in 1850.”
And along came my Mastiff
“The Bullmastiff is a powerful dog, said to be a cross between the English Mastiff and the Old English Bulldog. Originally bred to find and immobilise poachers, the breed has proven its value as a family pet.”
He was an awsome kisser! His head came to my bellybutton (I’m 5’8″) and he soaked me from head to toe in his bath. He was so amazingly awesome.
I had an old Bloodhound who just didn’t want to get in the bath, once I got him in the tub he didn’t want to do anything but lay around.. he was hard to bathe but none the less still a sweet heart
“A bloodhound (also known as the St. Hubert hound) is a large breed of dog bred for the specific purpose of tracking human beings. Consequently, it is often used by authorities to track escaped prisoners or missing persons. It is a scenthound, famed for its ability to follow a scent hours or even days old, over long distances. Combining a keen sense of smell with a tenaciously strong tracking instinct, bloodhounds have proven their worth as the archetypal trailing dog.”
And THE PUGGLE! OMG
“Puggles tend to be between 15–35 pounds and stand 13–15 inches at the shoulders. While colors vary, the vast majority are fawn colored. There are also completely black as well as multicolored (like mixes of black and brown) puggles. There are advantages for the mix breed. For instance, while pugs tend to have pushed in faces, puggles do not. This reduces the risk of the respiratory problems that are associated with pugs.
Some puggles carry more traits from either a beagle or a pug, so their appearances may vary. This is due to the decreased ability to predict which attributes will be inherited from which parent. Commonly referred to as a “designer dog”, puggles have a playful temperament. Puggles tend to exhibit a high level of energy, while simultaneously being loving dogs. They are classified as a lap dog because of their relatively small size and demeanor.”I had never seen one before my puggle! OHHHH Man this is a cute dog! I instantly thought this would be a great dog for 2 of my 3 sisters! And there soooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have even had the pleasure of bathing a cat!!!! He didn’t like it, but he took it like a champ! Forget the million pound mastiff, and the zillion large dogs a day I bathe this one little 4 lbs cat acutely struck a cord of fear in my heart. It turns out, he was sweet as could be! Very good 1st cat to learn on! But.., If I can avoid it, I would rather not do many cat baths!

All the quotes above were from Wikipedia. The images listed for each animal were NOT the animals I groomed, they were images found on the net. I hope you enjoyed this post! Now, where are those pictures of your puppies? Lets see them!
